Dr. Matthew Gardner

Dr. Matthew Gardner
(Managing Partner)

applies his background in environmental science and education to bring a practical perspective to sustainability strategy development, quantifying sustainability impacts, and state-of-the-art sustainability communications. In his work he employs a multidisciplinary approach that couples technical, quantitative expertise with a commitment to clarity and pragmatism. He has a Ph.D. in Chemistry, and spent ten years in environmental research and education at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Dr. Bernd Kasemir
(Managing Partner)

focuses on the intersection of strategy, management, and reporting for corporate sustainability programs. His work often involves making sustainability indicators, such as those developed by the Global Reporting Initiative, accessible and easy to use for internal management systems and external reports. With his broad background, which includes a Ph.D. in chemistry from ETH Zurich, postdoctoral work in environmental sociology at Harvard, and training in business administration at IMD, he brings an integrative perspective to clients’ sustainability initiatives.


Dr. Stephan Lienin

Dr. Stephan Lienin
(Managing Partner)

helps clients design sustainability strategies and measures and is an expert in sustainability communication. He holds a Ph.D. in natural sciences from ETH Zurich, and developed methods for analyzing energy and mobility systems at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI). He also uses his extensive communications training in coaching, program management, and coordinating multistakeholder processes. 


Dr. Ina Kaufmann

Dr. Ina Walthert
(Senior Consultant, Zurich)

is specialized in sustainability reporting and in applying directives of the Global Reporting Initiative, the global leading standard for key performance indication in sustainability reporting. As certified GRI trainer she regularly teaches courses and workshops. In addition she supports her clients as a consultant in the realization of GRI verified sustainability reports (clients e.g. Bank Vontobel, Axpo, Barry Callebaut, etc.). Further focal areas of Ina are reporting-frameworks such as the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC), the Principle for Responsible Investment or the UN Global Compact. Moreover she is interested in issues of sustainable procurement and mobility. She participated in the Graduate Program of Interdisciplinary Research on Ethics at the Ethical Center of the University of Zurich and was awarded a PhD in neuro-economics.


Stefan Luegstenmann small vertical

(Consultant, Zurich)

joins Sustainserv Zurich after he spent one year at the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) working on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the team of Switzerland’s Special Envoy for Global Sustainable Development. Prior to that, he gained first experiences in consulting through his work for an internationally active management consultancy in Germany and he supported several non-profit organizations in Switzerland and abroad, where he focused primarily on the topic of sustainable agriculture. His interdisciplinary training at the interface of political science, public law and economics led him from the University of Zurich to Geneva and South Africa. He graduated with a Master's degree in Development Studies from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva.


Charlotte Meissner

Charlotte Meissner
(Consultant, Boston)

brings a diverse mix of skills and backgrounds to Sustainserv. A former infection biologist and scientist, she gained her first experiences in sustainability consulting working for a green assistance and certification program for small to medium sized businesses. She later acted as Membership Coordinator of the Sustainable Business Network of Massachusetts. Charlotte holds a Master’s of Science degree in Biology from Freie Universität Berlin, Germany, as well as a Master’s degree in Sustainability and Environmental Management from Harvard University.


Holly Moynahan

Holly Moynahan
(Consultant, Boston)

has a background in sustainability strategy development and implementation, program management, communications, and environmental compliance, having worked on the sustainability team of Zappos.com, a large American online retail company, and at an international environmental consulting firm prior to joining Sustainserv. Holly helps clients evaluate and reinvigorate their ability to create value now and in the long-term through sustainability initiatives that widen the lens of how they do business. She holds a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science with a concentration in Economics from Colorado College.

brings his experience in the IT sector, journalism and energy consulting to Sustainserv. He obtained his Masters as an environmental engineer from ETH Zurich, with majors in ecological systems design, urban water management and renewable energies. Before graduating in Zurich, he spent parts of his studies in the US and Spain. He strives to support clients to efficiently design sustainability strategies, effectively implement and eloquently communicate them.


Heather Vickery

Heather Vickery
(Senior Consultant, Boston)

applies her strong technical background to manage a wide variety of projects for Sustainserv's corporate clients. Her areas of expertise include materiality assessments, data analytics, GRI reporting and sustainable supply chains. Heather joined the Sustainserv Boston office after receiving her bachelor's degree in Facilities Planning and Management from Wentworth Institute of Technology. Prior to her role as a consultant, she served as the Sustainability Program Assistant at Wentworth Institute of Technology where she supported strategic oversight for campus-wide sustainability initiatives, acting as a liaison between students and administrators.

Manuela Huck-Wettstein
(Senior Consultant, Zurich)

is part of the practice Sustainability Communications and mainly engaged in sustainability reporting, sustainability strategy and materiality analyses. She worked in international advertising agencies and has over two and a half years of experience in marketing and corporate communications. Before joining Sustainserv she worked in the field of digital innovations at a global Swiss bank. She holds a Master in International Affairs & Governance from the University of St. Gallen and has studied International Business & Sustainability at the University of Hamburg.

Julian Meitanis
(Senior Consultant, Zurich)

leads and contributes to projects with large corporations, SMEs, NGOs, and universities in the areas of sustainability management, sustainability innovation, and strategy. One of the topics he focuses on is carbon management and accounting. He studied business administration at Trent University in Canada, followed by a Master's degree in International Relations at the University of Sydney and completed an MBA in Sustainability Management at Leuphana University Lüneburg. As a sustainability consultant, he has more than 8 years of cross-sector experience in various industries, as well as international project experience in countries such as Switzerland, Sweden, Luxembourg, Germany, and Norway. He significantly contributed to the growth of the myclimate Foundation and its consulting and solutions department. He is particularly interested in strategic aspects of sustainability and innovation. Furthermore, he is a passionate problem solver and intrapreneur.

Ana Milosavljevic
(Consultant, Boston)

leverages her understanding of environmental science, policy making, and business to approach corporate sustainability challenges with an interdisciplinary, practical, and problem-solving mindset. Before joining the Sustainserv team, Ana worked for a Washington, DC-based government relations firm that engaged organizations on their legislative strategy and communications with lawmakers. Ana holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Analysis and Policy and a minor in Business Administration from Boston University.


Laura Neufeldt-Schoeller small

Laura Neufeldt-Schoeller
(Intern, Zurich)

supports various projects in the field of sustainability reporting and sustainability management. She also conducts market analyses and research, among other things, on the Swiss companies’ approaches toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Before joining Sustainserv Laura worked in an international advertising agency in strategic planning. Laura holds a Bachelor in Business Administration from the University of St. Gallen and spent her exchange term at Harvard University. She gained her first experience in social, ecological and economic sustainability as an active member of oikos St. Gallen, a leading student organization regarding the topic of sustainable business.

Dr. Andrew Mountfield
(Senior Advisor)

brings over 25 years of experience in strategy and performance management across a wide range of industries and business functions to integrating sustainability and financial reporting and management. He has worked as a manager in the pharmaceutical industry, as a partner in PwC Consulting and was managing partner of Horváth & Partners in Switzerland, where he developed state-of-the-art, innovative toolsets for strategic and financial steering and communication. A graduate of the European School of Business and Bocconi University, Milan, he also completed research masters at HEC Paris and Oxford University and his doctorate at Ashridge Business School. He has taught on the ETH Zurich MBA programme since 2005, and is a guest lecturer at the University of St Gallen and CEIBS. He is the editor of two volumes on strategy and performance management.
